One of my friends just told me HTH SCI 2D06 counts as a full year of biochem. Is this true?

That information might be available in the undergraduate calendar. They usually list equivalent courses as "anti-requisites"

I checked, the only two anti-requisites are two Inquiry courses. But I know the second semester of 2D06 talks about biochem

Hmm...I see. Do you need to take biochem courses?
Nobody has ever complained about biochem 2ee3 being really hard :S. I'm sure you'll be fine in it. There are definitely more difficult memorizing courses (ie. molecular biology courses)

Okay, about Biochem 2EE3:
I hate memorization, and I hated the course the entire term. I skipped class weeks at a time, would cram horribly before the midterms and especially the exam. In fact, about 5-7 hours before the exam (noon, when the exam was 7pm), I looked at the last 3 lectures for the FIRST time.
I still managed to get a 12 through sheer luck, which was pretty funny. I'm not saying the course is ever interesting or good, but you should be able to do well even if you cram, because I managed it and I suck at memorization.
However, and it pains me to say this - I remember a crapload from the course. I'm not sure why, and in theory memorization should be superficial memory easily lost compared to understanding memory found in other courses, but I remember so much of biochem 2EE3 it's ridiculous.
If you take it, realize it's going to be boring and crappy, but recognize you can do well despite your hatred of it and you might come out knowing something new or at least having mastered/memorized some useful facts.

^Wow lol, that's quite the story. Some people might find it interesting though...if they like biochemistry :S
Lucky you. Sounds like an easy course to me....cram all in one night, still get 12...skip weeks of school...

It was a terrible course, but also really easy to do well in. Going to class was pointless because he didn't put pictures on his slides because of "copyright" even though yang put all of them in for 3G03

HTH SCI 2D06 counts for one (1) semester of biochemistry for canadian schools like Ottawa. You'd need to take biochem 2EE3 for the second semester of it. However, you DON'T have to take orgo to take it even though it's a prereq, you can email I think Michelle MacDonald for a waiver.

To anyone who has taken BIOCHEM 2EE3, did you feel that CHEM 2OA3 was important to have?

Is this "course equivalency" information available anywhere online? all the course codes are HTH SCI and i'm having some difficulty deciphering what I do or do not have covered.

If I only need to take one more biochem course, would people recommend 2EE3 or 3G03?

They use the same book, and they're run in similar ways, so I would suggest 2EE3 simply because it's a second year course. If you have the course space next year, just take 3G03?

Biochem 3N03 (now 4M03) is really great. Dr. MacDonald is the best prof I've had thus far. It's also nice because it's easier to relate nutrition to everyday live vs other topics (for example, biochem of membranes..).
