Biology 1M03
Depending on your high school background, Biology 1M03 serves as an introduction to evolution and ecology. As I have mentioned in the summary above, the term consists of three major units which are taught by three different professors.

Part 1: Introduction to Evolution taught by Dr....

Yeah, dushoff and kajiura were great, but Kolasa was just...eh. If you read the textbook, do the readings and ask any questions you might have, you're gold.

I thought Kajuira was alright, she was way too easy. Her questions were right from her little fill in the blank notes. Overall though she was a fairly interesting lecturer. I thought Quinn was much more interesting (or maybe it was just his material). Anyways, I found the course to be pretty boring...

Simple:

- Dr. Stone.... bad. Goes off topic, makes human evolution sound boring, his slides are literally text straight out of the book.

- Dr. Quinn... he's ok, except he easily gets annoyed at students when we're not paying attention or loud and he doesn't hide that quite well.

The course is very dry but easy and enjoyment depends on interest in ecology and the prof.

Kolasa dims the lights and WILL put you to sleep every lecture, but his midterm/exam questions are quite easy. And Hurlburt was an okay prof, kinda all over the place with his explanations sometimes but he was a pretty jokes guy so w.e.

The nice thing about Kolasa is that you don't have to go to his ecology classes; if you just read the text book chapters 21-25 that will tell you everything you need to know

I liked teh first slide he had for evolution. xD

Anyway, Kolasa isn't bad, especially for answering questions after class. His lectures ARE quite dry - I was down to putting on a timer for the last few weeks just to count down WHEN class would end - but his lectures supplement the slides so I'd suggest attending them.

Hurlburt was awesome. Sometimes he's stare off into space and the whole lecture hall would be tossing and turning to see who he was staring at. xD And he brought real old stone tools into Lecture - I touched them. It was cool.

His exam questions were pretty easy. Kolasa's...were twisted, but I guess not so bad.

i took bio 1M03 in my first year, and Dr. Karjiura is a pretty nice prof, she went thru the content in class really clear and provided a lot of examples.

I took 1m03 in the summer of 2010 and for me this course was more interesting and way easier than 1A03. The only part that I didn't like was the pbl project because it was time consuming and it only represented 10% of the final mark.

I took this course in second term 2011, and found the material in the How Humans Evolved textbook extremely dry. I found 1A03 much more interesting.

How does HHE fit into this course? Is it just used as a supplementary text or is it testable material?
