I haven't been having any network problems with Koodo =/. Maybe because I travel less out of my town I suppose but I do travel to places like Ottawa and whatnot but even there my service is still the same. Koodo is just slow with releasing new phone models and whatnot..that's the only problem I have with them. I'll be switching to Bell or Rogers depending on which one can give me a better deal when the iPhone 5 comes out.

I've had no problems with Wind so far. Especially if you've just moved to Canada, the unlimited global texting works out really well :p

That might be true, but once every few months Wind has their $40 - $45 plan which I'm on; which includes :
- Unlimited North American Calling
- Global Texting
- Call Waiting, Three Way Calling, Voicemail
- UNLIMITED DATA.

If Koodo beats that, I'll switch over

i'd hold off on getting a blackberry until school starts unless you really need it...

there are going to be new models coming out this year... the 9900/9930 (basically a bold with a touch screen) has already been announced, also new torch and curve models may come a bit later in the year

To the OP. I'd advise against the 9780. It's a great phone but dated. It's over a year old.

consider the 9900, 9680, or 9810. Those are all 4G phones running BB7, their newest operating system.

One nice thing to do is buy your phone for full retail (no contract), get it unlocked (~$10), and do whatever you want with it. However, if you're going to go with a contract, I'd definitely give a thumbs up for Virgin Mobile. I've been with them for the past few years and their customer service is excellent, and I haven't had any issues with reception etc. And though 3 years seems like a lot at first, it will fly by. The plans haven't changed much from what I've seen in the past few years.
