Bootcamp issues (won't boot)
Heya everyone. Yesterday, as I was browsing the internet some software called Antimalware Doctor randomly popped up and said my computer was infected with a bunch of trojans. Shortly thereafter my computer froze so I turned it off. Now my windows partition will not boot on my Mac. I turn it on and I hear the "BWONGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG GGGGGGGGGGGGg" but then a black screen comes up with a white cursor at the top. I can boot the Mac side just fine. I don't have a Windows XP disk atm, but I do have the Mac disc. Do you think anyone could give me some help? Thanks in advance ;D.

http://www.ubuntu.com/
but, if you can, try to see if you can boot into safe mode and do a system restore to a point where it worked. If that dosent work ill try to find a command line virus removal tool
maybe this:

I've tried to boot it into safe mode, but pressing f5 or f8 won't do anything. It's been driving me nuts!

How does the command line tool work if I can't boot into safe mode. Sorry I've never tried this before!

Just install the drivers that let you access NTFS drives from mac, backup everything from your Windows Drive and reinstall using bootcamp.
That is probably the best and fastest of doing it.
If you need any help id gladly help, I am fairly knowledgeable about this stuff.

I'm not very familiar with this sort of stuff. I don't have a windows xp disk and only have the Macosx disk.
Do you think this link has a possible, working solution?

It seems really complicated and I'm not really sure how to reinstall bootcamp, iirc, I will need a keygen or something?!

My brother set it up for me at the time. Does it usually require a Windows XP cd? haha

FYI don't believe shit from any virus program that you're not familiar with. Install Microsoft Security Essentials and disregard everything else. They are pop-ups that are trying to trick you into downloading their malicious content.

I actually have no idea how the antimalware doctor program installed itself. Suddenly it popped up and soon everything froze.

Umm, so I think I've managed to burn an ISO of the disk, but I'm unsure how to open bootcamp assistant or how to load the windows disk to do a system restore. Can anyone give me some pointers?

try downloading this program to scan your computer to see if it can detect the virus. I got a virus recently and this caught it and this program caught it and removed it for me. I guess you can also try searching for the content that's on the windows xp installation disk on google, burn it on a blank disk, and use that since you don't have your windows xp disk with you currently? Sorry, i'm not much of a computer person >.<

Honestly i suggest against trying to fix it, instead just reinstall windows.
Trying to clean the virus/malware is only going to provide slow downs in the future.
What you can do is, get the Windows XP key that your computer is currently using and use it again when you reinstall, use that key.
If you like, i dont mind doing this for you, it shoulnt take more then 30mins. And i have most of the CD's required

I'm currently not in Hamilton haha. I was just wondering if you were familiar with Macs. I managed to get a windows disk but I don't remember how to open bootcamp assistant. I tried booting the mac with the windows disk but nothing happened. This is an iMac btw.

BootCamp Assistant is just an application that should already be present. It's /Applications/Utilities/Boot Camp Assistant.app. Note that that's the system-wide Applications directory, not the User Applications directory.
