Actually Physics 1L03 doesn't have a lab component, so no book required there.
Bio 1A03 you have to buy the biology lab book, which is $12.75. You can use this book in second year too if you haven't filled it (I finished half of it in first year).
Chem 1A03/1AA3 you have to buy the chem lab notebook, which is $19.99. If you write concisely, you can use one lab notebook for both courses (I did that).

The thing is, chem labs are handed in at the end of each lab, when you write you actually make a carbon copy of your lab (one for you, one for the TA), and bio labs you can take home and hand in the day after (plus there's a lab test so you need everything written down and accessible). So you do need the different lab books, and I don't think they're that expensive (and in first year you're only buying 2).

There's no such course as Physics 1A03/1AA3... There is Physics 1B03 however, which requires you to have the black physics hardcover book (It's $6.50 at titles).

yes lab books for classes are required, in first year most classes have their own specialized lab books, chem 1a03/1aa3 has its own, bio 1a03/1m03 has its own, and physics 1b03 has its own. but you can continue using the same lab books in upper years. the lab books are also designed specifically for that subject so they are very useful. of course eventually youll be in a class that doesnt require a special lab book of its own but thats fine you can use one of your own.

i bought a used lab book for bio 1a03, and took out the used pages neatly, I was wondering if I'd still be allowed to use the lab notebook, or would if I have to buy a new one?

I don't know the answer to your question but you should DEFINITELY find out just in case they don't let you use it for some reason during the lab exam.

As long as there are pages left then it shouldnt be an issue

You can buy Physics lab book used for $2 from the lab itself. I did that, and though it seems like WHAT A NEW BOOK IS ONLY $6.50, it's a good way to save the extra buck when you can.

As for Chem, I EASILY used my lab book for both terms. For Bio, I'm planning on using it in my second year, too (hopefully...), so...you can recycle.
