To avoid that, they would need to lower the entire salary spectrum and bring down everyone's quality of life which I bet most of you wouldn't be happy about.
Umm...that's twisted logic.

That's like saying slavery shouldn't have been abolished because the quality of life for white people would be brought down since they would need to start paying for labour.

Discrimination is an issue, yes, but I think the issue is more systemic. Women do tend to self-select into jobs with more flexibility (which subsequently come with less pay) because things like housework and care of family members (children obviously but also aging parents, etc) disproportionately fall on the shoulders of women. So women are being paid less because they tend to select away from busy, inflexible jobs, which seems fair, until we realize that due to the way our society runs, they seem to have fewer choices than men.

Then of course there are issues like the ones McMaster found in their wage discrimination study that Star mentioned... and yet tons of guys I know found it super insulting that the female profs' salaries were bumped up to compensate.

Or like when the Sony leak showed that Jennifer Lawrence was getting paid way less than her male costars. Men also tend to get higher raises sooner than their female counterparts (given by both male and female managers). The gender wage gap is alive and well.

Not really, he just said women are slacking. He said same thing as I did, except he gave a reason, but at the end I'm the sexist bastard and he's the hero.

Can I just say that sexism against women is pretty much the same thing as racism against black, brown, yellow etc. We say that women are things like taking care of the children, parents etc falls disproportionately on women's shoulders, but I can make a similar case for BBYs(black, brown, yellow).

Then if I take the salaries of entire white population in Canada and compared it with salaries of BBYs, I can point out the same discrimination against them. How many people of color do you see in offices in McMaster? say the registrar's office or Dean's office or SFAS ? or how many men for that matter?

Now we (including women) always say that the opportunities for everybody are equal and if they(BBY) work hard like the rest of us, they too can get better jobs, but it really isn't the case, is it?

Everybody talks about how women like Jennifer Lawrence get paid less than her co-stars but they don't take into account the experience, the popularity etc. Do you really think she would get paid the same as Christian Bale, Bradley Cooper? Why isn't Michael Peña paid the same as Jennifer? Thousands of questions that nobody really answers.

Did you guys follow the debate that Will Smith's wife started? About how Oscars are all white? What did you think about it? Did you say that it was wrong or did you, like me, thought that if black people did good roles, they would be nominated? Did you think about the disadvantages that black people face in this situation? or did you just brush it under the carpet?

And what about the porn industry? where women get paid more than men even though it's males who do the major part of the job?

Then you must think that whole Oscar scandal is legit, huh?

No I don't. I was just pointing out the whole hypocrisy. The Oscar scandal and the sexism are pretty much the same thing but few people believe in both. White women deny the Oscar scandal but scream of sexism.

My point is no two people in the world are equal. We brush off the black or brown people when they cry racism but stand up in arms against sexism, when in reality both barely exist.

Not necessarily. Depends what kind of porn you watch.

At the end of the day, there's just more demand for women in porn. Go figure.

And that's the reason they get paid more. Same's the case with actors or any other field.
