Can I just say that sexism against women is pretty much the same thing as racism against black, brown, yellow etc. We say that women are things like taking care of the children, parents etc falls disproportionately on women's shoulders, but I can make a similar case for BBYs(black, brown, yellow).
Then if I take the salaries of entire white population in Canada and compared it with salaries of BBYs, I can point out the same discrimination against them. How many people of color do you see in offices in McMaster? say the registrar's office or Dean's office or SFAS ? or how many men for that matter?
Now we (including women) always say that the opportunities for everybody are equal and if they(BBY) work hard like the rest of us, they too can get better jobs, but it really isn't the case, is it?
Everybody talks about how women like Jennifer Lawrence get paid less than her co-stars but they don't take into account the experience, the popularity etc. Do you really think she would get paid the same as Christian Bale, Bradley Cooper? Why isn't Michael Peña paid the same as Jennifer? Thousands of questions that nobody really answers.
Did you guys follow the debate that Will Smith's wife started? About how Oscars are all white? What did you think about it? Did you say that it was wrong or did you, like me, thought that if black people did good roles, they would be nominated? Did you think about the disadvantages that black people face in this situation? or did you just brush it under the carpet?
And what about the porn industry? where women get paid more than men even though it's males who do the major part of the job?
