Changing cellular device numbers
So I live a bit under 2 hours away from campus and I'll be moving into residence..
Do any of you have advice regarding whether or not it'll be worthwhile changing to a Hamilton number ?

YES. It will be. Calling the many local friends and classmates you will have will be much cheaper!

yeah, definitely. also you might want to consider Wind & Chatr, they seem to have some pretty good phone plans if you're moving over from the GTA

Switch to a Hamilton number for ordering pizza and calling friends.

Download http://www.google.com/chat/voice/ to call home. Free long distance for the rest of 2010!

Just log into gmail normally and on the left hand side (under the buttons for inbox, sent mail and etc.) you should see a heading called Chat under it you should see call phone (if there isnt anything under chat than just click the arrow to expand ). Just click that and make your call.

Yeah, I saw that US-only disclaimer too, long after I've already made calls through Gmail. I'm guessing the beta was only in the States, but it works here now.

Just download and run the installer, and then in gmail you can make calls through the chat. Works pretty slick.
