Rogers LCA change --> oakville numbers
Hello,

As I predicted a few months ago, Rogers has finally changed their local calling area (LCA) and it has affected everyone calling an oakville number. Picking up your phone in hamilton (if you have an oakville number) is not long distance (according to someone I talked to in Retentions) but anyone calling an oakville number in hamilton will see that it is long distance.

ok here is the deal. if you have an oakville number, you may pick up calls in either oakville, toronto, misssissauga w/o being charged long distance. you can also place local calls wtihout being charged long distance. the only thing that has chagned is that hamilton numbers cannot call you as a local number.

*local calls placed = hamilton, toronto, mississauga
*local calls received = missisauga, toronto

no, if your in hamilton, you can call hamilton and receive calls from hamilton, but people from oakville will have to pay if they call you, as well as people in hamilton will have to pay if they call you.

this is so B.S. Don't these people make enough money already?!?! Like WTH. I mean long distance charges are ridiculous especially calling from Hamilton to Toronto and vice versa... I can understand if your calling like really far...but seriously come on... there is no need for this. i'm sorry but i just had to rant.

New mobile company. They were initially turned down by the CRTC for not complying with the rules of foreign ownership. However, construction is still happening for all their retail stores so they must have found a way to satisfy the restrictions.

Here's a link to anything you want to know about WIND or any other carrier for that matter.

It should be pretty good since they invested $425 million for a certain spectrum (UTMS). They have plans to become the next big wireless provider in Canada. They will first launch in Toronto and Calgary and then launch in the rest of Canada afterwards. For phones, i'm not sure but what i know is that the spectrum which WIND is to operate on is a weird one and not too many handsets support it.
