Cheap Student Houses in T.O?
I'll be going to UT this year and I was wondering if any of you knew of any cheap student housing around UT (downtown). I looked around and everything is really expensive (upwards of 700/month)

That is pretty expensive. For Toronto the average should be around 550 a month. I can't really help you though. Does UofT not have an offcampus service like McMaster does?

I was told to find a place early... but I pretty much picked the most expensive rez... Chestnut! lol. I was told from an upper year in my program, that if you know someone else, just rent an apartment together.... it's cheaper.

Yeah, when you rent with someone else you don't have to look for 2 bedroom apartments. My brother's friend rented a 2 bedroom apartment but converted the den into a room with a curtain, so it's a 3 bedroom apartment now XD. Obviously the person who is renting the den pays less.

It's almost cheaper to rent an apartment with another person than it is to live in rez OR rent a room in a house!
Students generally pay $350-$450 for rooms near Westdale. But you can rent a 2 bedroom apartment for like $850 at Camelot Towers. Split it with a friend and you're potentially paying less money for a much nicer place.
The only downside is you will probably have to get your parents to sign for the apartment (whereas rooms in houses are often leased to students without parents signatures).

You might want to check on the pmed101 forums. They probably have better insight than a bunch of undergrads from Hamilton xD

I agree with Jay, I saw a few posts on the pm101 forum. You could also check the forums here (under classifieds): http://www.torontomeds.com/forums/

I don't get why you are in a McMaster forum asking a question about UofT....

only 3 months? x.x
Reason most people go to mac is so they don't have to live at home and also get more money from university and government.

Manu probably graduated or is done at Mac for obvious reasons
If they were out of high school for more than 4 years it doesn't really matter where they go because they'll probably get a lot in OSAP.

That's actually really cheap for Toronto housing. Really, really cheap for the downtown core. Toronto is supposed to be one of the most if not THE most expensive place in Canada to live: http://www.livingin-canada.com/cost-...in-canada.html

Yeah, the 550 I stated was actually from 2 years ago. Another one of my brother's friend is rented a 1+1 for 1300$...
