				Commuting and Downtime Between Classes

Hi! I'm going in to first year Kinesiology, so most of my classes only have 1 core (yaaaaay...). Anyways, on some days I'm basically at school from 8:30 - 5:30 with some sizeable breaks. So, I was just wondering what other commuters or other students in general do during these breaks, and how to utilize them.
Thanks!

Review the notes from the class you just attended or start the readings for your next class. Work on assignments.

Utilize 2 hour breaks, I find them the most useful.

1 hour/50 minute breaks SUCK. I'm telling you right now, you will get NOTHING done.

It's good and all to socialize, but don't get into the habit of sitting around on every break and just chatting with people. Utilize those breaks. By the time you get home, it'll be pretty late and you probably won't want to study that much or for long periods of time.

Personally, I go to Thode, rent a laptop and try to work or converse with friends.

The most sound thing you could do is work on assignments/whatever, but that won't always be appealing. Like Cristina said, working out between classes would be a good choice. I've never done it, but I would see a 2 hour break being best for that. Pending on how much work you have and your motivation to leave campus, you could always go downtown Hamilton or Dundas to kill time.

Definitely go to the library and try to get some reading or an assignment done, but only if you have 2+ hours in between like lawley said. There's also the gym, go get lunch, that sort of thing.

I: - Took naps around campus
 - Grabbed lunch with friends
 - Worked on online assignments or read the next day's lecture in the textbook
 - Ate at Bridges
 - Booked my Campus Health appointments or got problems with OSAP sorted out

Personally, I find that a 1hr break is very convenient for those of us who are procrastinators. I just use the 1hr before class to do the readings for that class or go over the lecture notes that pertain to that class. Basically all the hw i should've done the night before

True, one hour breaks are pretty hard to say on task, presonally.

I

1. Go to the gym
2. Read your lecture notes (textbooks are heavy so screw bringing them, or you can take them from thode lib)
3. group study/socialize
4. check your fb (JKS lol)

Dring breaks in classes, I nap, work on assignments, meet up with friends, eat lunch, go to work (if you have a job on or near campus), go for a run/work out, browse the library, walk around Westdale (if there's enough time), play on my laptop.

I'm never bored during my breaks! I think you'll always be able to find something to do. Maybe not the first week or so, but once you get some readings and assignments, you'll be busy.

I had a 5 hour break 3 days a week last year, and I usually went home or did my grocery shopping. When I did stay on campus, I'd do what I needed to get done: homework, assignments, doctor visits, shopping for school supplies, grabbing lunch, or sometimes sitting in on other classes lectures. A little extra knowledge never hurts

You'll find that kin kids always hang out in either DBAC (upstairs at the Tim Hortons) or IWC (in the Mezz) between classes. That's our "home base". Hope that helps.

Find people you know in rez (i.e. from high school or whatever) and just crash at their place =/
