Well...imap finally works...
Tried to intercept mcmasters SSO SAML auth headers before it got sent to google and didnt get very far then stumbled accross this little jewel:

First:
-Login to studentmail. Go to the setting gear -> settings. Goto Forwarding/Pop/Imap tab.
-DISABLE any forwarding you have to another gmail account. This links the accounts automatically and buggers things up.
-ENABLE IMAP
For outlook:
-Add account -> manually configure -> Internet Email
-Fill in:
EMAIL:
[email protected]
ACCOUNT_TYPE: IMAP
INCOMMING_SERVER: mcmasterimap.mcmaster .ca
OUTGOING: mcmastersmtp.mcmaster .ca
USERNAME: username
PASSWORD: password
-Go to more settings:
-in outgoing server tab check "my outgoing sever ...etc"
-select use same settings as incoming mail
-in advanced tab make sure both dropboxes are set to SSL THEN enter the ports (Incoming 993, Outgoing 465)
-hit ok, then test connection and you should be good to go.
