Couple Questions From a Soon to Be Engineering Student
I Just have a couple questions as I will be Attending the Engineering program next year.

What Programming Language do The First Year Engineering Students use?

How are the Residence Rooms at Mac? I am especially looking into the Double room with Washroom.

Thank you.

Welcome to MI forum and to McMaster University.

The programming language you will be most likely using during your first year will be Python. It is easy to learn and the syntax isn't complicated like some other languages.

Thank for the response.

I have another question.

What is the "ENGINEERING 1C03" like, does it require a lot of drawing by hand or more computer generated?

Thanks.

Both. In tutorials you draw on paper, in labs you use Solid Edge to model objects

It is based on both modeling using a computer and sketching. The sketching part should not really be a problem because the course only requires you to know the basics about engineering sketching. You don't have to be a professional sketcher or be able to draw perfect lines.

What you will mostly need to be able to do is visualize. If you ace all the "inventor" (computer modelling) and do bad on the sketching you are going to get a good mark .

It is not Solid Edge anymore. The labs consist of modeling with AutoCad Inventor.

As of last year we used Adobe Inventor instead of Solid Edge.. but the concept is the same..

Also this course was a pain in the butt atleast to me.. I was rly bad at the hand sketching tutorials and they took me forever. The whole hand sketching thing is pretty pointless IMO... The CAD stuff however I found pretty enjoyable.

Python.

Rooms are fine, but don't set your hopes on a specific room or res. You might get what you want. Or you'll end up disappointed. If that happens, don't fret. You may be pleasantly surprised. I know I was, roommate number 2 aside.

Also, get Dr. Childs (Ben Mares is good too, but Childs is better) for math and Dr Okon for physics. Thank me later.

It wasn't C++, it was C# prior to Python in the 1D04 (C sharp).
