Course Units
Hi there, I was just looking into a few of the electives i'll have the option to choose later on in June.
I understand that in order to advance you need to achieve 30 "units". 12 of these units are compulsory, and 18 are electives. Does each course count as 2 units, 3 units, etc.? I'm just curious how that system works

Each course is 3 units. Some courses are worth 6 units, but you take them year-round (that is, in both terms.) Some courses are zero-unit courses and don't count - are mainly just there as pre-reqs.

Look for the number at the end of the course code.

ex.
CHEM 1A03 is 3 units while
FRENCH 1A06 is 6 units.

Btw, Soc Sci get 18 UNITS of electives? Dang...that's good. But then again, I suppose most end up taking Science courses...

You're welcome! I was just surprised 'cause other programs get six units and I'd love to have the freedom to take more English courses...
