Cross Listed Course Name
Hi, I'm taking ENVIR SC 1G03 which is a cross-list of EARTH SC 1G03. I'd actually prefer the EARTH SC course code, and I'm wondering if I can swap it? Does anyone know what name the course actually shows up as?

Thanks!

I really don't think it matters. I'm a psych major and I registered for psycholinguistics, which is cross-listed with linguistics, and I registered under the linguistics course code and on my degree audit, it showed as it counting as a psych credit towards my major requirements.

Cross-listed means that you can either take one or the other, not both, and the one you take will be the one that will go towards your degree either as an elective or a course that you need to take to get to the next level. I had an issue where I had taken 4 history courses for Level 1 and wanted to take Classics 1M03 but since it was cross-listed with History 1M03, that meant I would be going over the allowed 4 History courses for Level 1 and therefore could not take either one. So you need to definitely speak to your adviser to make sure that your choice of course will not interfere with the required courses for your level or that it will not end up being a course that will not go towards your degree.

Cross-listed courses are the EXACT same courses. It doesn't matter which once you take (unless you need the specific course code for your program), you will be in the same class.

Watch out, it get complicated when you go minors.

To steal someone else's example, if I take Classics 1B03, it will not count towards my minor, but History 1M03 will.
