CS Global Offensive on a MPB 13" 2011
Unsure if I should post this on the gaming section or here

Anyways, I have a MPB 13" from early 2011. Intel 3000 hd, 4 gs of ram. Intel i5 2.3 ghz.

I'm not looking for the best hardware performance.. I'm looking for a smooth decent looking gameplay with at least 40 fps.

CS Global offensive looks legit but I realize mac's are meant for gaming. im an occasional gamer and for $15 on steam I'd like to try it out. I've played SC on my MPB and it run fine on medium settings. Looking for some other opinions, do you think I just buy it and take my chances?

cheers.

Your MBP isn't that outdated, and since they've specifically ported this game to Mac, I can't see you having a problem. Good thing about Steam is once you buy it, its good for both Mac and PC, so you shouldn't have a problem playing it on a friends' or your own computer, should you switch to PC. The system requirements seem to check out, but I'm not 100% sure on the graphics card (again, Mac PCs tend to be given components that are pretty compatible with current gen games, especially ones that have been recently ported)

You could always look up reviews from mac users, assuming its out already, find one that is using your computer type

I have the same laptop, and I believe this game will not work on our laptops due to the Intel HD Graphics 3000 :(

EDIT:
This is what I found on the internet: http://forums.steampowered.c om/for...hp?t=2885 840

It runs pretty well (60+ FPS) on medium settings on my 2010 13" MBP. It's older, but has a better nvidia GPU than yours so I'm not sure how that compares. I also found that games usually run a lot better on my Windows partition than OSX.

I've been running it on an older MBP (mid 2009?) with a NVIDIA Geforce 320M & I have 8 gigs of RAM. It runs way better when I bootcamp Windows 7 but it still runs just fine on default on Mac OS X, the FPS is just kinda meh. Update your drivers. It is the only game I can actually tolerate on Mac OS X rather than bootcamping over to Windows to play as I usually do.

edit: The graphics card got shittier in the new ones? I play SC2, Dota 2, LoL, Diablo 3 etc. all just fine (mostly default settings, random useless settings decreased just for some additional FPS) on my MBP, by switching over to Windows of course.

The 2011 MBP's have a bad GPU compared to the 09-10 models :(
