CS:GO - worth every penny
So I used to play back when it was 1.5, then 1.6 rolled around and things were (are) still good. Used to play a lot on official servers, then the community started to dwindle with the advent of CS:S, tried out CS:S, didn't like it much, it was okay but way to easy to hit someone in the head, plus the collisions.. THOSE COLLISIONS WITH LITERALLY EVERYTHING, oh whats that a piece of dust on dust, "YOU SHALL NOT PASS!". So I grew bored with CS:S quite quickly, went back to 1.6, there were still a lot of players but every server I went to was a stupid modded server, RTD THIS ASSHOLE, frost grenades, low gravity, double jump, superheroes, dm, gg, wc3. I want my vanilla. So I found sanctuary in Non-Steam 1.6, played on a server called Fragbase, then No-name-forums, then some dirty bs happened with Fragbase and ownership changed, closed down, and opened up for what was quite possibly one of the worst clans, totally undeserving of their playerbase, power hungry ego maniacs. So I gave up with that. And decided to lay off the cs for a while. Years pass and here we are. CS:GO. It's like some bastard child of 1.6 and Source, but don't get me wrong, this is Jon Snow. It's tight, although the spread is pretty funky with some guns, it has the potential to revive the competitive scene, like back in 1.5 and early 1.6. I'm actually having fun, and I like it, best $13 I've spent this year (although that might not be true, cause you know.. summer sale). Anyways thats all I have to say. I'd like to get back into leagues, if anyone needs a ringer for this game, I'm pretty good :|

tl;dr It's CS before CS became a bunch of retarded mods (For now...), and worth every penny

What's the community generally like? It's not all screaming 12 year old kids like on Call of Duty, is it?

At the moment due to the influx of new players on release, the skill level of players is pretty low. They seem to come from other FPS games like cod, running around like headless chickens not listening to the sound in game and spraying like the guns don't have bullet spread. But in terms of the social skills of the community, the servers I've been on seem to be pretty friendly, plus most servers I've played on have a low tolerance for screaming 12 year olds, they usually just get trolled to oblivion and then an admin drops a ban hammer. The skill cap of the game pretty much acts as a filter for these types of kids, they usually give up.

I am absolutely shocked not one person on MI so far has commented on language. Not that I am complaining, but never expected that O_O

On a side note, get ESEA. Definitely worth it to play vanilla CS without stupid ass mods. If only it had gungame...
