Currently at 165 on the wait list
What are my chances of getting into res? Also, i improved my average from the first time ive seen my position on the waiting list. when do they update the numbers, because i think i should be closer to the top now since ive improved my mark

Improving your average won't give you a higher position on the wait list. You needed to have the guaranteed rez average when you received your offer of admission. If you haven't heard by August I would strongly suggest looking for alternative accommodation.

I'd say there is a pretty low chance of you getting off of the wait list. I was wait-listed before first year because I simply forgot to hand in the residence form. I was around position ~260 and only moved down 80 positions before school started. There is a lot more demand for residence now too, so it'll probably move even less.

I'd start looking for off-campus housing now if I were you.

Your best bet is to email housing directly, or call them to find out or ask them how realistic your chances are based on previous years. I wouldn't count on it if I were you though :(
