Did anyone take French 1K06 LAST YEAR?
I'm asking specifically last year, because the course has been changed since two years ago.

Long long story. Basically, I'm 20 and I haven't spoken a word of French since I was 17. I'm trying to review as best as I can right now, and it's slowly coming back, but it's hard.

How difficult do you think French 1K06 will be? I emailed the prof and she said a good amount of it is in English.. but understanding oral French is the hardest thing for me. I'm worried I'm going to get completely lost in lectures.

Well, i can't say i've taken french 1K06 but last year i took 1A06 (the most advanced class) and even the kids who couldn't understand a word of french passed. I'm sure you'll be fine. That class is meant for kids you can barely speak a word of french :-)
go for it.
goodluck!!!

I have the same worries. I was in french Immersion up until 10th grade, but I dropped it because I figured I'd do better in English classes. I've lost a lot of it since then, but hopefully this class will be easy enough. I'm sure it'll be alright, just attend every class and tutorial. =)

If you are really worried that you have really forgotten too much French, you could start over and take Beginners (French 1Z06). Perhaps you could arrange an assessment test with the French department to see your level?

Also, if listening is practically your only problem, I wouldn't worry too much that you may miss some or even a lot of what the prof is saying. Not everyone gets everything. There are always classmates that do understand, so just ask for help from them (even during class!).

I wanted to take Beginners, but they wouldn't let me.
Since I had taken Grade 12 U French, I can only take Intermediate (actually they told me I had to take Advanced, but SOLAR let me in Intermediate for some reason)

I asked to take the test and they said no because I took grade 12 French. :(
