"you may work extra hard, but you're a minority amongst a much larger group that does not necessarily try harder/is a riskier investment. We think Canada can spend its money on better investments than students."

(no offence to lakhim... The above is not my personal point of view)
Lol. Thanks. NOW I really know my place in society, as defined by the Harper Government and it's minions. I wasn't sure where I belonged on the grand scheme of things. Guess I should just go get a job at McDonalds and screw my potential.

This is not my view. Please don't listen to Mike_302. He thinks he knows everything about everyone, especially conservatives. And despite popular belief, there were times I was not happy with the government because of choices they made, but this just comes with democracy I guess...

my response was to clarify two things: that
1) nobody should be attacking someones character based on their political views and
2) In the real world, people must take time to vote, whether after work, etc.

Last time I looked, exams don't run from 9AM-8PM, so you would have time to vote.

I'm sorry if it was taken out of context.:smile_coffee :
Nonono, don't go retracting statements now. You've already been very clear at this point that students are a risky investment, and I told you that a response like lakhim's would be bound to come up.

Again, I am sorry if it came out that way. I know what it is like to be ignored by the government ( for my own reasons) and that is why I am calling for reform. People who should get loans, are not getting them, and people who get loans, maybe should not. When applying for osap, there are a lot of loop holes, and errors can occur. I know numerous people trying to extend their education, because they are either mature students or decided to change their field but cannot receive loans because of their social status and where they came from. And I believe that this is wrong. People who need it most should get it first and get the most available. Then it should go those who need it next, then so on and so forth. I somewhat mentioned this point in this post, but I should have went into more detail. My apologies:
Rofl! Not at all. Shows how much you DON'T know about me. My friends come from all walks of life and I respect that. the problem I have is people with entitlement issues. This really bothers me. On a side note, I like how this thread went through some interesting topics. This is quite enjoyable and I am waiting for the thread after the election. Very interesting

Vote Libeal a NDP if you want to pay more taxes to social welfare and illegal immigrants....oh and if you want criminals to walk freely down your street
Illegal Immigrants ? You must be confusing the USA with Canada. There is almost no illegal immigrants in Canada. You're statement seem to have a lot Racism bias in it and also because you are linking crime with immigration. Why don't you get out of Canada ?

There for sure are, its just less of a political issue. The BC border is notoriously complex (all the islands, etc) and hard to keep in check.

-its back and continues to lurk ridiculous debate-

I know there are illegal immigrants, I just said that it is almost non-existent compared to the size of the illegal immigration the USA is having. That is why it shouldn't be a major issue.

You just don't vote for a politician just to fix a minor issue that is not even affecting the majority of Canadians. (I am not raging on you btw, just trying to clarify)

Well you see I'm so poor I can't AFFORD to leave Canada for several months to even walk with a backpack around Europe you moron. I have been working non stop since I was 17, and never had a decent vacation especially never been to Europe. So to me you are privilaged! Don't be so naive you clearly don't understand other people have less, much less than you do.

I haven't vacationed in Europe though...living and going on vacation to Europe are two totally different things. I just want to clarify Im not from one of the rich European countries, rather one of the poorest. Even when I lived there travelling Europe wasn't an option and it hasn't been an option since I came to Canada. You shouldn't downplay your backpacking trip, many students wish for that, they just can't afford it.
