My goal is to enter the biology and math honours program, and its required that you have a GPA of 6.0 I slacked off in my first year, but for the past 2 years have been trying to increase my average. I'm still not at the necessary 6.0 average right now, but I really want to get into that honours program because many upper year courses require enrollment in an honors program. I was thinking of submitting a Petition of Special Consideration, but I have no medical or family reasons to excuse me for not making the average, I was just lazy in my first year (and still kicking myself for it). Has anyone been in a similar situation that can give me some advice?

You could probably stay and extra year and keep trying - just avoid a couple of required courses. I'm not sure, though, so talk to an adviser. I doubt you'll get special consideration, since it wasn't like you have a good reason not to be in Honours right now.

Tough luck, you'll probably have to come back.

I would just like to say that if getting into that program is your dream, or at least something you really want to do, keep working towards that goal. Kepp trying and con't give up. Becasue after 4 years (or however long), you'll have paid to do something you're really not interested in and then you come out and go, "now what"? Really, this is something you're going to do for the rest of your life. Do it now, becasue if you end up wanting to d it later, you'll be married with kids and it'll be a lot harder. I know people that couldn't get into a specific porgram so they chose something else even though it's not really what they want to do. Take some extra time and keep trying becasue it will affect THE REST OF YOUR LIFE! And goodluck.

Unfortunately if you have the required credits for a 3 year BSc they will make you graduate if you don't have the 6 average. But you can apply for a second degree in which you can use the courses you have already. You need to go talk to a academic advisor to understand your options fully.

Since you are still only in third year (I'm guessing?) you still have this year to work your butt off to get in. Treat every test and assignment as if your academic career depends on it. If you really want this you're going to have to aime for 12s.

Good luck!
