I got accepted into my program and am aware of the mandatory courses I must take. I want to create a fake timetable in order to see if any of my courses and electives conflict, but I don't know how. Can someone direct me to a link? Thanks.

Depending on what course you are taking, there may or may not be more than one section so try to piece together your timetable without conflicts.

You need to use the Master Timetable.

Basically you need to look up all of the courses you want to take and find out what times the lectures/tutorials will be.

It's most important to look at core lecture times, SOLAR will section you into a tutorial that fits your schedule automatically and you can change it manually later in the Summer to fit your schedule better or pick a different time you'd prefer.

timetables are computer generated to have the least amount of conflicts, and the initial course selections don't show the different cores or tutorials

course sectioning begins august 3 and official time tables are released august 11...

be sure to check again for conflicts then, and adjust your courses and timetable when solar reopens on august 13 (if you've registered and confirmed your payment by august 12), 17th if you've registered and 18th otherwise

Wow, thanks a lot for the fast reply. I have one last question. I'm in medical radiation and it says that I need 2 one term electives. Does this mean I cannot take French (1Z06)? As it is only one course with two different terms?

Ideally, if you want a full load, you want 15 units (5 courses) in first term, and 15 in the second.

Assuming you're going into 1st year Med Rad (sorry if I am wrong...), your requirements don't say that it must be 2 one-term courses in the SAME term; it just says 6 units = any 2 3-unit courses OR 1 6-unit course. If it just so happens that your required courses fall 4 courses in one term and 4 in the other, then French 1Z06 would be perfect, because it gives both terms a 5th course.

Does that make sense?

I think by two one term electives they probably mean that you cannot take say two electives in the same term (unless you want to overload). But you can still take a term three course like French 1Z06.

I believe Most faculties allow you to take six courses in one term and four in the other. However to take more than six courses in a term, you need permission from your department.

But before you go an create an unbalanced timetable for you, you should realize that taking 6 courses one semester instead of 5 puts extra unneeded stress on you. Especially for your first year at university.

Overall your timetable looks fine to me. Personally, as I was commuting from Mississauga in the first year, I preferred having no or very little breaks. So your 2nd term schedule looks great to me. I would avoid having those huge breaks on wednesday and thursday in your term 1, as sometimes they get annoying. But if you are living on res, I think you should be fine. You can also post your timetable in the following thread and hopefully you can get opinions on your timetable from more people.

Also, although you are allowed to take six courses in aterm, i would not recommend that especially in the first year.
