..Why would you go home? Do you mean for the weekend..? I'd say most students stay in Hamilton most of the time.. <_<

Why would they? Classes start Sept 8th, while welcome week is the 3rd to 11.
XD
Unless you mean during the weekends by all means, you can.

I'm with the others, I stayed at school all of September. Unless you really miss your family, or are completely overwhelmed and realize you are not ready for university, there's little reason to head home in the first few weeks. Take these first few weeks to enjoy campus as much as possible. Join clubs, make friends, go hiking on the nearby trails, or whatever floats your boat. There is so much to do and for once you now have the independence to decide exactly what it is you are going to do, take advantage of that. That being said though, the first few weeks of first year will be pretty lax and you will be able to go home no the weekends with little to no impact on your school life.

Let's face it, the university is an absolute ghost town on weekends, most people are from nearby major cities so it's quite easy to go home.

I don't know what university you've been going to :/ Mac is by no means a 'ghost town' on weekends.

I went home the third weekend in september, but only because i had to go to a wedding, otherwise i would have stayed. I didnt go home a whole lot in first year, and even less in second. As i got older and more used to being away, i started feeling more at home at school then i did in my own home. I definitely enjoy my independence and i really don't think i could go back to living at home full time...the summers are more then enough

Well if you're comparing campus to a Monday in terms of people walking around then yeah, but there's no shortage of parties on any given weekend lol.
I think in first year I went home.. 3 times the whole year. Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Reading Week. After being at school and living my own life and making my own schedule, going back home is honestly a drain for any more than 2-3 days max. I've been living at home and working all summer and I'm about to go crazy :p I honestly cannot wait to get back to school as soon as possible T.T

Walk around campus on a weekend as opposed to a week day. I guarantee you'll see maybe two or three people at any hour of the day, instead of 439874985798475987 people.

Obviously, people don't go to class. But living in residence, you'll notice very little difference. Everyone who lives there that you're friends with is still there.
