Does 1280 let in underage people?
Like 18 year olds? Edit: I'm asking specifically about Thursday and Saturday nights, the club nights.

If it's a 19+ event, they obviously won't let in an 18 year old.
Aw, you're a baby, still.

What KYLBOT said, but you can go in during the day and shit.
As much as I don't like you, don't waste your time. ._. Or money.

I mean like on Thursday and Saturday nights, the club nights. Do they just mark 18 year old hands with black marker so they can't buy drinks, or are they just not allowed entirely? And I'm of legal age, asking for some friends.

I've been before, it's not that bad, just as good as any club in Hamilton, really.

1280 lets a certain number of underage students in for club nights, although every club night is 18+. Once they fill the number (around 100 I think, although I'm not sure) they stop letting in 18 year olds and only 19+ are allowed in.

What back way exactly? I'm sure if there was a back way to get in, a lot of people would know and would be exploiting it, and 1280 would be doing something to stop it, right?

1280 runs a massive deficit every year, in excess of $250k. They've lost millions in the past 5 years. They'll do anything to get business, including ignoring people sneaking in, I'm sure.

Not true logically, Should they get busted with those first years in there(the Hamilton Regulatory officer makes a few rounds every night) the place would lose its license for a while. The opportunity cost of that is simply not enough. The upper management(Which incidentally is new after the manager and all assistant managers were let go this summer) is not at all in favor of this.
Secondly, I am not denying that people are still slipping in via the bouncers either via the patio entrance(when the Mac 5-0 usually stationed there is away on call on some other section) or the Side Line Bypass entrance through basement of Gilmour Hall. I've heard alot of accounts of that, however the official position of the management is against it since it doesn't bring them revenue for cover.
1280's issues are more to do with excessive wage costs(since they are all for promoting student job opportunities) and not enough return on food or alcohol(which is cheaper then what hospitality offers, especially for the service). I wish I had specific answers for you but my forte in the MSU is Education and Advocacy and not Services and Business. But if there were specific answers I'm sure the management who have alot of experience running such places would have figured out by now.

Everyone except Huzaifa in this topic has no idea what they are talking about.
First of all, with regards to 1280's reputation this year, it's improved dramatically over previous years. Saturday nights aren't an impressive draw lately, they haven't been bad; but Thursday is consistently a blast. It's always awesome on Thursdays.
Secondly, 1280 is NOT 19+. How it works is they check your ID at the door, and give you an armband if you are 19 or over; if you are 18, you do not get an armband. 18 year olds are allowed in clubs, they cannot get in trouble for that. Under 18 are not allowed.
However, they do cut off 18 year olds at some point, usually by about 10 pm, in the interests of making revenue (they need to make money, and obviously minors aren't going to generate them a lot of revenue at the bar). This is standard protocol for a lot of places, but most don't allow people under 19 at all.
Last thing: I wouldn't recommend discussing "alternative entry" or paying off the bouncers on a public forum. This is accessible by anyone. If that's the kind of thing you do, posting about it here is not a good idea since the security at 1280 will end up just getting tighter. You can pay off a bouncer sometimes, but you can't pay off a cop.
And also... there's a few people who said crap about Hamilton bars. Seriously? What is wrong with Hess, or Taphouse, Slaintes, etc? Hamilton nightlife is sick. You need to get out more and enjoy it. My personal favourite is Diavolo or Taphouse.
