Doing Laundry
I just wanted to know what the Laundry situation is like in residence.

How much does it cost for washing / drying?

Do I have to stay there to watch over my clothes, so people can't steal them? Or is there a way to lock the machine?

It's $1.25 to wash and another $1.25 to dry. You can add $.25 to get another 8 minutes of drying time.
Some people stay and watch their clothes, but by the end of the year almost everyone just leaves. You cannot lock the machine.

There are cameras in all of the laundry rooms for personal saftey reasons so it would take a pretty stupid person to steal someones laundry.

Bring rolls of loonies and quarters. The service desks don't usually carry much, and won't accept a bill over $10.

I never actually stayed and watched my laundry. however, be considerate and check on it when it finishes. it tells you on the machine how long it'll take. Other people need to do their laundry as well and it's frustrating for all when you wait 5 hours for someone to remove their clothes and thats when people take your stuff out and move it elsewhere. I would never do that but I've seen piles of clothing moved because people do.

And yes, bring lots of loonies and quarters! But if you live near home odds are you'll bring laundry home on weekends.

Not really, just don't do your laundry on a Sunday afternoon.

With my res, which was Edwards and thus smaller, the best time to do your laundry was a friday or saturday night when most of the res was out. You'll figure out fast what day is best for you and if you're in a larger res I doubt you'll have any problems with waiting

I used to do mine on Tuesday morning and apparently so did a ton of other people. However, Saturday morning does seem more plausible since everyones partying Friday night.
