Dream Computer
Hey Everyone!

There's been a lot of computer related threads on here lately, but nothing that's really been too high-end.

I'm just really curious to hear from all the techy/gamer people here. What would be your dream rig if you could build/get it right now?

Tell me all about it! Show pictures, specs, whatever!

I'd need something fast, capable of handling thousands of calculations per minute but at a reasonable cost. Something with lots of built in features, and yet simple to use. I need a Casio FX-991.

are we talking something we can build right now, or literal dream systems?

If it's the latter I'm looking for a Laptop with a 7200RPM 1TB drive, USB 3.0 ports, Intel i5 Chips, Nvidia GTX 330M graphics card, Windows 7 Pro, 1920x1080 P-OLED screen, 3+ hour battery life and sub-5 pounds.

Now that we're done with fantasy, this is the dream comp I made for the RFD contest a little while back:

Speaking of dream computers, there are desktop computers for sale that are so "extreme" that they can't even use water cooling; they have to submerge all the parts in liquid cooling.

Those things run from $3000-9000 >_<

the imac is a joke when it comes to components but the mac pro is priced fairly especially with that 8 core Xeon processor.

The Mac Pro is designed to be a workstation... so unless you're running a business which requires a computer like that (costing up to $20000) you're wasting your money on it. It's much easier/cheaper to build a computer with great specs that was designed more for your own purposes (ie gaming).

I'm content with my current computer:

- XFX 8800 GTS
- 250 GB SATA Hard drive, 160 GB IDE Hard drive (I wish I could get rid of this...)
- External NexStar 1 TB drive (modded the thing to plug into my computers PSU rather than have another stupid AC adapter)
- OCZ 550 W PSU
- 4 x 1 GB 800 MHz Corsair DDR2 RAM
- Samsung SyncMaster 245BW
- Intel E4500 (OC'd to 2.93 Ghz)
- Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L Motherboard
- Random Zalman CPU cooler that doesn't work so great (heat pipes are a stupid idea on a CPU heat sync...)
- Debian + VirtualBox Windows XP with a Windows 7 dualboot (not the RC version )
- Case I made out of pegboard

It still plays 90% of games fine... probably won't upgrade for a while :p

I care my about what I want my computer to do... I don't care how fast it is as long as when I wake up, it's done :p.

EDIT: Oh, I almost forgot; I also have a Logitech g15 keyboard. Greatest. Keyboard. Ever.
