With Intel Core 2 Extreme, Nvidia 9200M ^2, 500GB HDD, 8GB

But a fully loaded one costs around $6000 *sigh*
You do know alienware is often almost humorously over-priced right?

Who cares about price? The topic is asking if you COULD get your dream computer.

EDIT: Ignore the blurb that used to be here

Bah, it's a laptop. I would never buy a laptop for my dream machine...

i understand why some would want an alienware, the designs are unique but the hardware is way too expensive. Alienware prices are more ridiculous then the price for macs.

- Intel E4500 (OC'd to 2.93 Ghz)

- Debian + VirtualBox Windows XP with a Windows 7 dualboot (not the RC version )
- Case I made out of pegboard

It still plays 90% of games fine... probably won't upgrade for a while :p

I care my about what I want my computer to do... I don't care how fast it is as long as when I wake up, it's done :p.

EDIT: Oh, I almost forgot; I also have a Logitech g15 keyboard. Greatest. Keyboard. Ever.
fairly decent rig, i love the XFX branded nvidia cards. Their the best bang for your buck IMO

I don't think it'd be a waste at all if you can afford it. I don't see how ordering a mac pro makes it any harder to build? The case is specifically designed to be easily upgradable. You don’t need to turn the system on its side to make changes. Slide out the processor tray to add memory. Slide out hard drive bays to add storage. Slide a simple bar to change up to four expansion cards at once. And with plenty of I/O ports both front and back.

Since this IS my DREAM setup, it goes:
3X 30" Apple HD cinema displays.
Two 2.26GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon processors
16GB (8x2GB) of RAM
3X 1TB 7200-rpm Serial ATA 3Gb/s
4x NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 512MB

This will be one of my few investments once I'm done school. Mainly for photography and video editing/rendering.

Also, it's funny that people are all "lol imacs = apple = crap because not high end" , then it's like "lol mac pro? too high end people won't need it!"
Some people are just never happy.

Lol I know Alienware is just ridiculous price wise! But I used to be wayyy to fascinated with their adverts in Pc Gamer back in like 00/01/02 when I used to be a bit of a Pc Geek! Then there was this company called Falcon Northwest which used to paint Cases with Automotive Paint! :o

They still apparently make some badass Pc's Including this $8028 Mach V which broke all sorts of benchmark tests with its overclocked I7!

lol, it will probably suck by then. I remember when I was in grade 6 and my classmates would always talk about what car they'd have when they were 30, and I'd just sit there thinking "What's the point? There will be something way better by then...".

Yeah, the specs we dream about now will be commonplace in 5 years.

I just know I want three gorgeous HD displays on my computer.

I just long for the day where i can have a powerful processor and decent to good GPU and in a laptop while not having to spend most of my time eye-ing the battery charge meter.

Why get a G15, when there's a G19.

The G19 may be awesome and all; but it's not very wallet friendly . It also requires a separate power adapter... which is kind of retarded for a keyboard :/
