Dropping Out.
So, I've recently found out that the courses I'm currently enrolled in are not for me at all, in fact, I'm in the completely wrong faculty. The program I want isn't at McMaster so transferring faculties isn't an option, either. So my question is, how would I go about dropping out? Should I make an appointment with the academic advisor of my faculty and if so, how would I go about doing that? Any help would be greatly appreciated as I really don't know what I should be doing.

Thanks for your time!

It would be a start to say what faculty you're in and what you're thinking about doing at your next uni; there are different approaches and different people to talk to depending on what faculty you're apart of. If you're for sure about your decision, you should probably just drop all your courses on SOLAR; but going and talking to your advisor lets you know exactly how you should go about doing it -- chances are there's a course or two that would carry over for whatever program you're switching. You're going to lose your money, but its possible to maybe get a reduction in the amount you're losing if you drop things right.

Why not stay and transfer into your desired faculty at another school?

I highly recommend meeting with an academic advisor to discuss your options. I'm not sure about the exact process, but if you drop out now, you will have no credits to transfer over, meaning that you'll start over from year 1. Unless you have firm backup plans (e.g. a job, volunteer work, etc) or plan to go back to high school for a term to upgrade your courses or something similar, you risk spending a year waiting to get into university without having any work to fall back on.
