I was told when I first came on MI last year that "it's the overachievers and teacher's pets who sit in the front row" and that the third row's the safe bet so you don't look too eager. Needless to say, I saw no such thing in my classes. First term, I used to sit mostly in the third row, but towars the end of term 1 and in term 2, I always sat front row. Less hassle and tripping over people...or having people trip over you.
I usually go to class around twenty minutes/half-an-hour earlier. It's a horrible wait when there's actually a class going on inside...
