Easy english courses?
Hi,
I need to take 2 english courses to fulfill some prof. school requirements =(
Right now, I'm thinking just Eng 1A03 and 1AA3..but do you know if any other courses are easier (any 1st, 2nd, 3rd yr courses)?
I know it depends on how the TAs mark essays but I was wondering if some english courses are considered generally easier than others.
Thanks in advance!

I really suck in english so maybe it's a bit biased, but I didn't really like English 1A03. I only need 1 english course though. I'm looking into English 1BB3 "CULTURAL STUDIES AND CONSUMER CULTURE". My friend took it and told me it was interesting and it looks interesting to me. I don't have enough space to take it next year, but I'll probably take it in summer school if offered or in third year.

Any of the three unit courses are meant for students not in English; so if there are prerequisites for them they are relatively few. However some are cross-listed with CSCT courses and are considered "core courses", some of which can be very difficult.
The easiest courses by far are the first year ones, but that does not mean you will get a 12. Getting a 10 or an 11 in ANY English course is considered an achievement.

When they say Cross-List is it like the exact same course or perhaps diluted down a bit?

Cross-list means it can be used as a degree requirement for either program.
For example, English 1BB3 is cross-listed with CSCT 1BB3: They're the same course just have different course codes depending on your degree program.

I took English 1AA3. It reminded me a lot of the english classes I took in high school. The essays were not very long (the first was 500 words and the second was about 1000 words). The exam was not very difficult as long as you kept up with the readings and reviewed them beforehand. Overall, it was not very challenging and I really enjoyed some of the novels we studied.
I personally don't think that any english class is an 'easy' course. Some of them aren't very challenging, but you won't get a high grade if you don't put the effort in. And I am sure that in most english classes there will be a lot of reading to keep up with.
