easy social science/ humanities as an elective?
Hey guys,
I am going to my 3rd year Life Science program. In order to apply to vet school, i need two humanities/ social science units ---direct quote ...(In selecting these courses from among those acceptable, the prospective veterinary student should consider topics such as ethics, logic, critical thinking, determinants of human behaviour and human social interaction.)
Since I don't have any pre-requisite for upper years humanities/ social science, can somebody recommend some easy classes? ( little % of essays preferred lol)
Cheers

Philosophy 1E03. 5 tutorial papers due every other week, which are 1.5-2 pages long, double spaced, 10% of your mark. Pretty easy marks. Then the exam is 50%, but he gives you the exam as it will appear on the actual exam date, so you can prepare. This is if you have Dr. Garett.

Health Studies 1A03 is relatively easy. From my experience there were 4 quizzes, no final exam, tutorial and two 1 and a half page assignments in which you analyze an article. You look at the social, cultural, political and economic factors in health.

Humanities and Social Sciences courses tend to be more difficult than sciences (to get a high mark). Just take social psychologies. =p

It was taught by both Dr. Rothenberg and Dr. Gildner when I took it. Rothenberg taught the more cultural aspects, while Gildner taught the more political.

I only took anthro 1a03, and it was soooooo bad. I mean the course isn't hard really, but it was really dull. The material seemed interesting, but the prof I had (arratia) was...ehhhhh. It ended in me not going to class. (:

Social science: Econ 1B03 and 1BB3
Oh wait, you need those specific courses, nevermind... I would also recommend getting courses approved if they are actually that specific.

Anthro 1Z03 or 2E03? I know life sci students who found the first year course easy since some of the stuff is covered in bio and 2E03 is a continuation (sort of) of 1Z03

Indigenous Studies 1A03 and 1AA3. Really, really straight-forward midterms and exams.

I loved the class, but I ****ing hated the prof. She was rude, inconsiderate and didn't really care for the class.

I took it and the exam was terrible. I had it term 2 with a prof that LITERALLY read word-to-word from the powerpoint. Didn't go to his class, did amazing on the tests, but did horrible on the exam. The exam was definitely a surprise to a lot of us since it didn't focus on the bigger picture, rather it focused on the minute details. Waste of my life.
