If someone does want to know the exact required GPA as per their course load, multiply the above mentioned averages by 37 and then divide the answer by no. of units you have taken in the academic year.

eg. If you want management, your required average with 37 units would be 6.5.
But if you are taking 31 units, then 6.5x37=241. 241/31=7.75. Therefore, 7.75 would be your then required average.

Yes, the cutoffs change every year based on the number of students who want to get into the program. If one year alot of people want to go into Tron, the average could be up at a 7 or 8, but if the next year, it wasn't a very popular choice, the average could be a 4 or a 5. Things like Bio-med tend to be higher averages in general because they are very small programs while things like chemical, which is large and has lots of spots, will tend to have a lower average. It all depends on what students want that year.

Every year cutoffs change. more demand, higher average.

It simply works like this :

You chose 4 of your fav Eng fields in order of preference! They look at your first choice, and see if you have a high enough CA for it. If you do, it stops there, and they don't even look at your other choices. But if for some reason your CA was low for the first choice; ONLY THEN they move on to the second choice.

Therefore to answer your Question: No, its not that you had a low mark that's why it says INELIGIBLE for the other 3 eng fields.

Hope that clears it up

wait a minute! for all those 4s and 5s, it means if you fail, you still get in??????? That makes no sense what so ever!!! I thought eng was a very difficult course. Is there like an average that you need to maintain to actually PASS first year?!

No. 4 is a C- and 5 is a C. You just have to make sure you have an average above a 4 or else you might get kicked out of eng for a year.
