I can't help you on where to write it but please please study your butt off for it! A lot of us didn't prepare much for it and our end-of-term marks reflected that.

Did they specifically say it won't affect your marks? Or they didn't mention if it will or won't? I guess it's different now, I wrote it two years ago.

im first year as well, but i have lots of friends from older years that have been through this so i know about this test
you gotta study HARD for this man... even though it doesnt reflect on your marks directly, it will affact how the professors sees you and that is very important in your academic career........

lol... this test. Pretty crap way to start welcome week :/
Anyway, just review your math/physics stuff from grade 12 and you should be alright. The test is generally used as a benchmark for where the first year engineering students stand in terms of math and physics ability. They use it to design the lesson plan and tests throughout the year.
Although you don't receive a grade from this test, if you're on the edge after first year for getting into the engineering stream you want - it's likely your score from this test will be used as a deciding factor.

As much as I like your enthusiasm, I gotta say that the profs probably aren't going to remember your performance on a preliminary test when there are ~1000 other students.
Still, always good to hit the ground running and doing well on this first university examination will set the tone for the rest of your year.
Good luck engies.
..and all you science kids, enjoy making fun of all the studying these poor b*stards will be doing.

It's a difficult test, at least it was when I took it. I failed but I got through the year, though it was
a pretty rough year. One of my friends was really nervous for it and actually made up a
fake excuse to skip it. Didn't work though, after his 'recovery' they just made him take a make-up
test later. He did worse than me and finished the year on probation. Best of luck to you first years!
