Entering 2nd Year Commerce - What Classes to Take in Summer?
Hey guys, I'm looking for info on what course(s) to take in the summer?

I will be entering 2nd year Commerce in 09/10' and hoping for a lighter course load. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Traditionally, people take either COMM 2AA3 [Financial Accounting I] or ECON 2X03 [Intermediate Micro] in the summer. It seems to enable a good balance with the remaining courses.

If you are only taking one course this summer, I suggest 2X03 As 2AA3 can move very quickly if you haven't done accounting in high school.

I took COMM 2AA3 during the normal school term. I've heard that in the summer, it has been easier. Also, I recommend COMM 2FA3 for term 2 of summer, since it could get a lot of workload off your shoulders during 2nd year!

Cool, so then for sure I'll take ECON. However now its a throw up for the Commerce course. How well did you do w/ taking 2AA3 during the regular year?

I'll probably end up doing either 2AA3 or 2BA3?

The schedule for summer courses is up on the registrar's website so you'll want to check that. McMaster doesn't have very many online courses.

You can't take 2nd year Finance unless you've passed 2nd year Fin Accounting, so you can't do it as a summer course.

I've heard that 2X03 and Fin Accounting are easier over the summer. You can always do your elective over the summer, just to give you more free time.

FYI: 2nd year is the hardest year in Commerce... it only gets better.
