Failed Math! Help!
Hi there, I'm a first year science student and I failed math 1A03. Only math 1LS3 is required for my program, so would it be okay to take that in second term instead? Or do I have to retake math 1A03?

Also, Since I failed 1A03, I planned on switching my math 1B03 next semester to math 1LS3, but it says that math 1B03 is a requisite for the physics 1B03 that I just finished. Will they revoke my physics credit if I don't complete math 1B03? How does that work?

Lastly, How do I go about speaking to an academic advisor, since I clearly need one?

Thanks!!

I don't know much about how requisites/prerequisites work in the science faculty but here's all the information for talking to your academic advisor:
Students wishing to contact an Academic Advisor, may do one of the following:

call extension 27590
e-mail [email protected]
drop into the office at BSB-129 during office hours
Drop-in advising is available 9:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.-3:30 p.m., Monday - Friday on a first serve basis. Drop-in advising is intended for brief discussions with an advisor. Students requiring more time may book an appointment.

switching to math 1ls3 second term and dropping 1b03 should be no problem. you got your physics credit so dont worry about it being revoked. if you need to speak to an advisor, go to bsb. the science advisors are at the start of the hallway on the right side if you enter from the main entrance near bsb 147

Err...math 1B03 is *not* a pre-requisite for physics 1B03.
If it was, there's no way they would have allowed you to take math 1B03 in second term and physics 1B03 first term. Pre-requisite means you need to take it BEFORE (sometimes exceptions are made to allow you to take it concurrently), not after.

Its a requisite course. Not prerequisite. When I go onto my SOLAR it says Physics : Requisite : Failed. (Since dropping Math 1B03) And on the Physics 1B03 homepage it says "Math 1B03 is required for all physics programs"

programs and courses are two different things

^yup, you don't need math 1B03 in order to take physics, however you do if you plan to go on in physics.. so that shouldn't be a problem for you

math 1b03 is not needed to take any of the first year physics courses.
it is a very useful course to take because matrices are present in many aspects of industry but to each their own.

Happy holidays!
