Few electives to replace some courses
Hi, I am in life sciences and need help choose a few electives. This semester i have bio 1a03, econ 1b03, math 1aa3, chem 1aa3 and psych 1xx3. Since i didn't do well enough in chem 1a03 so, I am gonna take both chem 1a03 and 1aa3 during summer.

This leaves me with bio 1a03, psych 1xx3, econ 1b03 and math 1aa3. I am also gonna drop math 1aa3 because it's not needed for Honours biology. This only leaves me with bio 1a03, psych 1xx3 and econ 1b03. Now the problem is should i only take 4 courses this semester and take one elective to replace math 1aa3. Or take 2 electives to replace both math 1aa3 and chem 1aa3.

I incline towards taking two electives and there are a few choices i have come down to but i don't know what to choose.

The choices are Med Phys 1E03 and Econ 1BB3, Envir 1B03 and Envir 1A03 (full)

Please let me what courses are easier and help boost my average. (include any other courses if you know)
and also let me know why they say it is bad to take only 4 courses in a semester. Since I am gonna cover up 30 units at summer school.

Thank you

Kin 1E03 and 1G03 are only for those in Kin, not Life Sci. Keep that in mind.

I've heard econ is a joke, you may as well take it.

I would suggest taking the second calc.

From what I understand, there is a Bio class (Bioinformatics [3S03]) that is all math...so the more math background you have for that class the more likely you will pass.

Take the second calc or one of the econs. Both were easy and way easier than those other courses you named.

I'm going to recommend against the second calc. unless you are considering a program that requires it or you are really good at math. If you want Life sciences or Biology programs, most do not require math 1aa3 which is I've heard is still a hard course

Hi Guys the good thing is Env 1A03 became available and i took it. I have heard its easier than 1B03. If someone has taken it before, will they please let me know if I am right.

Now i can't decide if i should only take 4 courses and take the 5th one during summer, or take another one/keep math 1aa3. I want to get into Honours Biology and when i talked to a career counselor, she told me that i don't need math 1aa3.

Any suggestions much appreciated.
THANK YOU

If you just want to do Bio, then you don't need second calc. Why put yourself through that extra stress? If you wanna do computational bio, then I would definitely take it though. So Enviro is a good choice, but if Econ becomes available, you could choose that as well.

wait a minute, so if you want to retake chem 1A03 in summer school, you will have to retake 1AA3 as well? so.. there is no point for me to take 1AA3 this semester and i should drop it for something else?

If you are planning to retake a course then you don't have to retake the courses that it's a requirement for. That's just silly.

What you should know however is that retaking a course doesn't mean that your new grade will replace the old one. Both will be taking into account when calculating your GPA. Unless you want to take the course to strengthen your understanding of the material or because you failed it before, there is really no point in retaking the course.
