OP, I think you should think of the other party. They don't want to be your trophy to show to everyone. To them, a relationship, love; means so much more. Just be good to your friend, having a good group of male friends is usually something that shows your confidence; which is the #1 thing anyone; potential gf to your boss looks for.

Always take others' emotions into consideration.
