Hello, does anyone have an idea of what the first year engineering average gpa was this year or what it was in past years? I'd really like to know as we wait for second year admissions to come out. Also does the engineering faculty release your rank data compared to everyone else like Waterloo's engineering faculty?

The info is not shared --- there's absolutely no utility to knowing the first year average, so (rightfully), they don't make it available.

And they don't send out ranking data... They tell you what program you got into, and (again) that's all that matters.
