Well, the way it works, they take your CA, and multiply it by the amount of credits you took, then they rank you based upon that and then its sorta like a draft. person with the highest point total gets first pick, then the next highest and so on...

There is a free choice option, and I believe they get to pick before anyone else.

how long is lecture?
For the 2008-2009 and 2009-2010 year, they decided to try out a new system with two maths: 1Z04 first term, and 1ZZ5 second.

I guess they thought it wasn't working though, because they're being split up into three maths for the '10-'11 year: 1ZA3, 1ZB3, and 1ZC3.

I don't know anything about 1P03 next year, but from what I'm reading it does seem to have been changed from a full-year course to a one-term course.

My first-year timetable was very free, as I ended up taking 1P03 and 1C03 in the summer through LEAP's Headstart program.

In the interest of full disclosure, I will be working for LEAP in the summer, but even if I wasn't, it'd be a program I highly recommend. More info can be found here.

1P03 is a one term course now. I am the Educational Development Assistant working with Dr. Fleisig this summer to develop the course.

The course will look a little different this year but I hope that all First Year Engineers are excited! If anyone has any ideas that they would like to share, feel free to send me a private message.

id reccomend:

-no to mckay for physics at 8:30. u'll eventually just go "why bother"
-if u feel up to it, go for a long day one day (with breaks ofcourse) so u get a really light day (even lighter if u take econ and can basically skip it )
-create an hour long gap at 11:00 on tuesday for football (aka soccer)
-hardest was chem for me... it couldve been easier, but i hate chem and somehow fell behind. Still miraculously salvaged a 6 F*** CHEM!!!!

Take Okon for Physics 1D03 and 1E03. He's lively and he's relatively better than the others.
And then ask your friends who are in McKay's class for the Clicker questions he does.
Those questions appear exactly on tests and exams.

Credits are not what determines your transition to level 2. You need to pass all your courses (I heard engineering lets you fail 2 courses before kicking you out) and get a good average in order to get into the programs you want to get into.

but people said that they count your points to determine getting level 2, so in order to get more points so I need to get more courses done, isnt it?

If that's the case then yes, but you can't take more than a full course load which is 37 units.

Actually, I heard that they're changing physics as well. It's now going to be taught by Engineering Physics Profs.
