First year timetable. Could check it?
Hey, I would appreciate it if you could go through my first year ENGINEERING CO-OP 1 timetable and see if its fine... with regards to professors, timing and order of courses.

i havent chosen any labs and tutorials, only cores (pls infrom if i need to include the labs and tutorials.)

I have chosen 2 electives, but for one (environmental science ENVIR SC 1B03) it mentions that i have to take a prerequisite of "science 1A00). im not sure abt how i could include it in the table. In your opinion what would the easiest electives be and is envi science hard, in the sense of work load and tests.

pls feel free to make changes

personally feel that Thursday is HELL (too many courses cramped up together)

thank you!

That looks good to me teacher wise. Math you definately want Childs or Mclean (are there any other profs for math anyways?) and mckay is a great physics prof.

Not bad but Physics 1E03 is only offerred second semester and you have it in first, so that needs to be changed. I would personally endorse Okon as a phyiscs professor, but McKay would be a close second. Science 1A00 and Engineer 1A00 are the same course and only consist of a couple online videos and quizzes that will take an hour or two some night you are bored, so you are covered there. Just note that by not taking Econ 1B03 as an elective you rule out the possiblilty of going into Management. Childs and McLean are both gold, but the rest of the profs are new since I left first year.

Pretty sure you cant choose environmental science. Did you look at the preapproved list?

you definitely don't want 1C03 and 1D04 in the same term since they both have a lab and tutorial each week. I'd suggest taking 1C03 in first term since there's a project at the end and if you take it in second term (like me) it is due close to when the 1P03 project is due. In my case it was the day later.

jon.john23, MacPack all say thanks to yeshuvai for this post.

1P03 is only offered first term now for them, so take 1C03 term 2

I guess they're doing something right with that course then. Also i checked the course calendar and math 1ZB3 is only offered in second term along side 1ZC3 since 1ZA3 is a prereq.

I recommend taking 1C03 first term and 1D04 second term. Also take 1D03 first term and 1E03 second, cause you need to use integrals in second term physics and thats when you learn them in math as well.

Also you said that your Thursdays are full...you only have lectures included in your timetable, you are going to have three hour labs and two hour tutorials on top of this. And you want to have your classes packed together like you have on Thursdays in first term, it gives you more time at night to study and review etc.

This won't be your timetable though, don't worry about it, SOLAR makes it for you and afterwards you can mess around and put things how you want. Good luck in first year though.

Also feel free to join the McMaster Engineering '14 facebook group, there are tonnes of upper years there to answer any other questions you may have about welcome week, your program of choice etc.

As blackdragon said, unless they have changed something you are unable to take environmental science as an engineer so you will need to find a different elective.

Yah I was referring to the 1E03 physics, sorry for not clarifying that. Chem is only offered first term anyway.
