Well, I did a little checking and I noticed a jewish connection because one of the symbols for AEPi has a menorah in it. Their website said something about it being a "jewish brotherhood". Your full name was present so I facebooked that and saw that you were jewish as well. Not that I have anything against jews, Jesus was a jew . But I was just wondering if its more of a tradition/thing that jewish males tend to get involved with? Because you said anyone can join your frat but after doing a bit of reading it actually appears to be quite exclusive as opposed to inclusive like you suggested.

Um, there have been no deleted comments other than that by the user themselves. As admin we can see posts that have been deleted and none of yours have been. It's possible that your post didn't load onto the site, that happens sometimes.

No. The comment was deleted (or made invisible), I had written a reply to it. Aaron

I think we can all agree on the fact that Mcmaster is the best university ever! I haven't been able to do much though at McMaster due to the Brandon Hall fire. Hopefully I'll be able to get involved more next term. I have always been fascinated though by the idea of fraternities and sororities. I feel your pain though...TV does not exactly give fraternities and sororities a good reputation all.

Hi Bluser. A user or users reported your posts as violating the TOS so they went into moderator review status until we verified it. As far as I can see, your posts are back.

Hello Bluster =)
You are correct, AEPi is a Jewish fraternity. We still accept non-Jewish members, we are not exclusive. When we rush people we consider everyone, with no bias to their ethnic background and religion. With that said, all members at the Hamilton chapter are Jewish.

Hey Bluser,
AEPi is a Jewish Fraternity. As far as I am aware, there are only two or three major Jewish Fraternities in North America. There are fraternities/sororities for all different groups of people, if you do some digging I'm sure you can find some fairly quickly. There are also Frats/Sororities that are not for any particular group of people, but they still are "exclusive" based on sex.
The fact that it is not "inclusive" per se, is the very reason they are not officially sanctioned in many Univerisities in Canada the same way as they are in the United States.
Edit:
Aaron's response earlier was pretty accurate, so you can just refer to that.
If you do searching into AEPi specifically -- you will find a lot of judaism-oriented information, because it is meant for jewish male students in college/university.
This is only one small segment of the greater Greek System, though. That is the point I was trying to get across.
Unfortunately, in Canada, as you can see in this thread, the pickings are much slimmer for fraternities/sororities to join. But in the US where there can be as many as 70 different fraternities/sororities on a campus, you are pretty much guaranteed to find a group with which you feel you best belong.
I hope that clarifies it.

"Brotherhood", "sisterhood", what you have done for the "brotherhood" will be remembered, being invited to it...sounds like a cult to me.

lol, it is definitely not a cult.
We have no "dear leader". We don't ask anyone to give up any part of themselves or do anything that they wouldn't otherwise want to do.
It ultimately is just an organization that allows you and your new close friends to gain as much experience in various leadership roles as possible.
