Free, Cheap ART CLASSES on campus/Hamilton?
Hey y'all,

Wondering if you guys know a good, cheap place around Hamilton or near McMaster that sells decent art supplies? I have had a stark realization over the past couple of months that I absolutely need ART and CREATIVITY back into my life, especially since the Sciences is mostly just memorization, concepts, and applications.

Art has honestly given me a way to express myself in others ways I could never do with words, gestures, body movements, or dance. I excelled drawing and painting as a child and tweenager, but just put it in the back burner for about 5 years when things got crazy and stressful during high school and first year.

So, I'm hoping to get back into it and indulge in all my creative processes again! So, if anyone can recommend any free or student-budget friendly art classes in or around campus, that would be really great! (Anything from painting, live sketching, charcoal, pottery, etc.).

Thanks!!

There's a place east to the Jackson Square. Like, 1 or 2 blocks away from JS. Also there was one on main, past the Westdale School and the bridge over the highway, I haven't been in that area for ages tho, not sure if any of those are still open.

Ask google maps.

No idea about art classes, I dropped out of art academy thinking that practice is the best teacher. That was before youtube, that also has a lot of stuff. It's free too.

You should check out McMaster Design and Art Association =D!

We exist because of the exact reasons you've mentioned, for all students to get an excuse to take some time off from their academic studies to indulge in some artsy/crafty stuff with others. Here's our facebook group if you want to take a look:

https://www.facebook.com/groups/macDNA/

We usually hold bi-weekly workshops on many different topics and styles, and all supplies are provided to our members for free (1-year membership is only $5 too!)

I think MrPlinkett is referrig to Curry's, it's on King & Dundurn. Don't know how cheap it is though. There's also a Michael's in Ancaster if you take the 5C from campus to Meadowlands.
