Which lightbulb is it in? Lamp or light overhead? Regardless just ask the housing office @ commons or your floor rep

Talk to your CA. A work order needs to be filled out, they can help you with that.

you go to the store, buy a lightbulb... and now heres the tricky part, you unscrew the existing lightbulb before you put in the new one!!! good luck, these instructions may be very confusing for you

Because welcome to school bureaucracy... Where it DOES take 6 people to change a lightbulb:

1 to notice it's burnt out and report it to a CA
1 CA to report it to housing and conference services (H&CS)
1 H&CS Part-time staff to fill out the paper work at H&CS
1 Superviser to review and approve the paperwork at H&CS
1 Facility Services staff to pick up/obtain a replacement bulb from where ever (maybe they're stored on campus)
1 mechanic to install it

Assume this all takes a total of 1 hour between all the people, and their average wage is $20 (What with Unions and all that shit...) and it's a 4' fluorescent bulb @ $10... Total cost of the bulb replacement is $30. But if I've been here for as long as I have, and if I've dealt with the number of administration I have, that cost will actually be closer to $100: Can't forget to put in 4 hours of ass-scratching time. This is crucial.

this is all fine with me if i only have to fill out a 30 second form and living on res always run the risk of being charged with random stuff. its best to just go through with the procedure

I forgot to add that it the 1 hour of work and 4 hours of ass scratching will take 2-4 weeks to complete.

Enjoy darkness

Things must have changed then, because when two sets of lights went out in the STAIRWELL of Les Prince in my first year, and everyone on two floors complained about it, H&CS got to it many weeks later.

Stairwell--> No light --> Safety hazard.

I called the service desk and it was replaced the same day. You can also submit a work order on residence.mcmaster.ca they seem to respond fairly. quickly.
