Golden Key Society
Anyone know what this organization is and what it does? I got an invitation to join, but it's a $90 membership fee so I'd like to know more about it before I decide to join.

It's basically just something to put on your resume to say "I got high marks in school". I don't think the $90 is worth it. I know a few people who have been invited to join but didn't want to spend their money.
If you have the money and don't mind spending it, it's kind of cool to say you got in. But other than that, you don't get much out of it.

Quick search of MI brings up a few related threads. I think this will have all the info you need.

So it seems that if I'm aiming for med school, GK wouldn't be much of a help aside from the supposed connections and scholarships? Seems like it's better suited for people going into business.
And from what I gather, I have to pay a $90 membership fee every year? Is that correct?

I'm fairly certain it's a one time fee.

It's a one-time fee. They do a lot of charity and social event. And they often have volunteer positions as well.

The only thing that I used my membership for was being a part of our golden key kenya trip. Lots of fun

I joined it and it was not worth it imo. But I was also really involved in other clubs so I just didn't have the time to take on an active role in GK. For people that are planning on becoming super involved (go to all the networking opportunities, join exec etc), then it may be worth it.

I get that letter every year and always recycle it. Seems kind of like a douchebag club.

I got the letter and won't join it. What's so exclusive about being Top 15%? Seems like a waste of money.

I'm also deciding on whether to join, this thread has made me a bit more hesitant:
