Grad school grades
I'm doing a 5th year so I can do a thesis which is the only requirement I have left for my degree. I am still going to be full time though, 24 credits. I know a lot of grad schools look at final year or final two year grades. Anyone know if my 5th year grades will be included? If a grad school only looks at final year grades, would it be my 4th year grades, 5th year grades or both?

Thanks!

I believe they'll look at your fourth year grades if you don't take a full course load for your fifth year -- something about wanting to be sure you can handle the stress and time management requirements of grad school. I was getting a little ahead of myself and looking at the requirements for the grad programs I'm interested in at a few different schools before I applied at McMaster for undergrad to be sure I was taking the right courses to get me there and that seemed pretty consistent.

Unless you're talking about medical (I can't comment on that), the whole "not a full courseload" thing is a myth- particularly if you've done well in both years. For instance, I took summer courses a couple of times to get some pre-reqs done for a double major. My final year was less than a full course load.

They'll probably look at everything, and emphasize what you've done recently. Why would they ignore information that helps them make a better decision?
