Since we wont get our marks till the 31st I think it would be really nice if the profs were to put our exam marks on elm so that we could calculate our own marks from that.

soltintal likes this.

I defintely agree. I thought profs weren't allowed to put up exam marks, but they are.
A possible reason they might not want to put them up, could be because of bellcurves,..?I really dont know.

Actually, final exam marks are fine to put up, just final course marks are not allowed

I have been a TA before and the rule is (according the the University) is that students may not be given the ability to calculate their grades. If you have all of your other grades, by the rules, the prof cannot give out your exam mark. Some may break the rule but most won't.

That seems rather unfair.

The only reason to prevent students from calculating their marks would be if you plan on screwing around with the marks and changing them and don't want students to complain or question. There's no other legitimate reason not to allow students to calculate their marks.

the mcmaster communications team has informed me that even through grades were not submitted to the registrar in time, they are not planning on extending the date. We will not get any grades until May 31st

There is also the idea that a student cannot get their marks until all accounts are cleared up. As far as I know grades can never be 'belled down'.

I think your safest bet, is to discuss your issues with an academic counsellor in your department. perhaps they will not be able to release your grades but they should have them. They may be able to tell you your best course of action based on your situation. I think the last day to add a term 1 summer course is this Fridat May 7th. so if you are able to speak with someone by then you should be okay.
