Guaranteed residence?
Hello,

I have been given an offer of admission to Engineering 1 CO-OP with guaranteed admission. My question is does applying for residence early give you any advantage in terms of preference? (I want to get into Keyes!)

Also, is the admissions office strict about maintaining a specific final average? (I'm supposed to stay above 83.)

Thanks!

Residences are assigned based on a lottery, so the time of application doesn't matter...unless you apply late. The admissions office is strict about maintaining the final average, people do get offers revoked if they fall below the cutoff.

As a first year it is hard to get into. Majority of Keyes is filled with upper years and international students, however, I was an upper year student in Keyes and I did have a roommate who was in their first year(but she had a special accommodation request)

My first choices for residence were in Mary E Keyes or Les Prince but I ended up with a traditional double in Mckay and it worked out really well! I would definitely recommend going for a traditional with a roommate because you will meet so many more people that way and you really get the complete university experience. Don't be upset if you dont get into Keyes because although its a really nice building, i know alot of people who lived there that wished they would have gone for a traditional because you just don't have the same community feel that traditional residences do!
