I checked the Go website first and it doesn't look like you can go from Hamilton or Burlington to Kingston.

Coach Canada doesn't go from Hamilton/Burlington to Kingston either.

With VIA Rail I checked for a round trip for a student and it was $142 total round trip including taxes from Burlington (Aldershot) to Kingston. You can get to Aldershot go from a bus at Mac.

With Greyhound I checked and one way from Hamilton to Kingston it's approx $100 so it looks like VIA rail is the cheapest.

If you get an ISIC card you also get a discount on VIA tickets; I think around 30%.

You also might be able to take multiple buses and get there one on of the bus systems but I wouldn't know where you'd have to stop and get a new bus.

Take the GO train to Toronto for around 9 bucks. Then take VIA to Kingston. Even if you don't plan on taking it enough to justify the expense of an ISIC card, you can still get the "youth rate" if you're 18-25.

Book early!

I go home (past kingston) a few times per year, and the cheapest way (other than driving yourself) is definitely by VIA train.

Get yourself an ISIC card... save your money!

Hey!
I was looking this up right now actually and during my search I saw this thread...
I've been looking to go to kingston for a visit sometime next month and wasn't sure if i needed an ISIC card...

so looking at fares for both viarail and coach canada i found that it was the cheapest to travel from mcmaster to toronto union and then from there take the coach to kingston.....

though i'm not sure where to take the coach yet...

i've made an excel document, comparing prices and approximate trip time... i'll attach it for you... hopefully its useful

(also this is my first time attaching something to a post, so hope it works)

So it seems that coach canada would be the cheapest, it takes a half an hour longer than the via rail but if time doesn't matter than coach canada would probably be a good price.
I looked at your excel and I don't understand the prices that you put under coach canada, cause they only have two different prices for one way.. either 40$ or 55$, not sure where you got the 18$, 28$, 30$, 34$ or 50$.
Going farther than kingston the coach trip becomes longer.. so I know for me it's definitely more efficient to take the via rail home cause my trips as is are like anywhere between 6 to 8 hours long depending on my day.

Oh I see, cool. I've never really looked into coach canada, the via rail is just so easy to take.
