Hamilton to Ottawa?
Hey! So I live in Ottawa and I was wondering if anyone knew anything about how I could get back home from Mac..
From what I have heard, I can take the Go Bus to Toronto and then the Via Rail to Ottawa. Is this right? :$
And does anyone know about prices and schedules??

I live in Ottawa too and I do this quite frequently, though it is expensive. The cheaper but much more uncomfortable route is to take GO to Toronto, walk to the Greyhound station and take that. The buses are very crowded and uncomfortable, and you have to trudge to the greyhound station, but it will save quite a bit of money.

The other problem with VIA is it is very frequently late. I've taken it probably 30ish times now and I've been late probably 20 of those times.

Return ticket with tax will be between 130-175 depending on the time of year.

Ohh okaay. Is that the student price or does that not exist? And if the VIA is late, does that mean you miss the GO or something? :$ Or does it just make your travel time longer

Btw thank you SO much

i usually take the go bus from hamilton to union, then take via to ottawa. everytime ive taken via its either been on time or late into ottawa by max 20 min. taking the greyhound is cheaper, about 100$ round trip if i remember correctly, but its definitely much more uncomfortable, and sometimes the travel time is longer.
via currently has a sale on where you get an 8-pack (4 round trips) for the price of a 6pack, it comes to 444$ so thatd make it 111 each trip. its still more expensive than the greyhound, but i would much rather pay an extra ~$10 for the comfort and stuff. it also lasts a year, and you can set what day you want the 8pack to be activated.. i also like that when you book with the 8pack your ticket is refundable/exchangeable so if something comes up you dont end up losing all your money! heres the site with more info http://www.viarail.ca/en/fares/travel-passes/via-6-pak

International Student Identity Card (ISIC) lets you get a discount for sure. Not 100% on whether or not you can get one with just your Mac student card. You can do the whole ISIC thing in the Student Centre.

According to the VIA rail website, 5:30 is the last train every day, unless I did something wrong.

GO buses run every day, but reduced service on the weekends I think. QEW express to Union bus goes from 5 to 11:30 on weekdays and 7 till 11:30 on weekends.
