10,000 text msgs, 10,000 picture msgs.
Call display, voicemail, whocalled feature (text msg of anyone who called you while your phone was off)
500 daytime minutes
500MB of data (I have a Blackberry)
All this for $60/month. Rogers.
(of course if you don't need the data you can take out the data plan, and it'd bring it down to about $40)

There is NO way that this plan is being offered right now... It's CRAZY (in a good way). :( I want it...
Mine is unlimited network calling (any rogers or fido phone doesn't waste my minutes)
Evenings from 9
2,500 text and picture messages
Call display, voicemail, whocalled feature
150 daytime
This comes to 45 + all the other charges they like to add on :(

I have an oakville number and understand the whole local/long distance concept of cell phone so I made a few changes (shown in bold)
OAKVILLE NUMBER with unlimited incoming
In Hamilton:
All incoming calls (TORONTO and HAMILTON) are local for me
Calling TORONTO is long distance for me
Incoming TORONTO is local for caller
Calling HAMILTON is local for me
Incoming HAMILTON is local for caller
In Toronto:
All incoming calls (TORONTO and HAMILTON) are local for me
Calling TORONTO is local for me
Incoming TORONTO is local for caller
Calling HAMILTON is long distance for me
Incoming HAMILTON is local for caller
HAMILTON NUMBER with unlimited incoming
In Hamilton:
All incoming calls (HAMILTON and TORONTO) are local for me
Calling TORONTO is long distance for me
Incoming TORONTO is long distance for caller
Calling HAMILTON is local for me
Incoming HAMILTON is local for caller
In Toronto:
All incoming calls are long distance for me
Calling TORONTO is local for me
Incoming TORONTO is long distance for me
Calling HAMILTON is long distance for me
Incoming HAMILTON is long distance for me
Basically: The best thing is to choose an oakville number because you can pick up calls when in toronto/mississauga (not sure about the entire GTA) without you getting roaming charges (30 cents/minute) and people from toronto/mississauga (not sure about entire GTA) can call you anytime without it being long distance to them. The only problem is that you cannot call THEM when in hamilton (but that's true for a hamilton number too).
Also: I have a 289 number (oakville) my friend has a 905 number (also oakville). If you would prefer one over the other, just mention it to the person who is changing your number and it shouldn't be a problem.

I'm with Rogers but the whole local/long distance calling thing should work with any provider. Basically, oakville is close enough to toronto and hamilton to be local for each one. Calling toronto to oakville or hamilton to oakville is local. And therefore, picking up your phone in toronto or hamilton (with an oakville number) will be local.

Has anyone have any luck in getting an Oakville number with Fido? I called them yesterday, and they said that I could only get a Hamilton-based number, or a Toronto-based number.

My friend has fido and he has an oakville number (used to be hamilton but I got pissed off because I could never call him when I was in toronto) so I'm sure there's a way. Maybe the person you talked to is an idiot? Lol keep calling...

The fido guy i talked to is an IDOIT! He told me that with and oakville number in hamilton, it would be long distance to call or recieving from toronto. He even consulted his manager, and still the same..? I tried calling back again in an hour and another guy came on and told me the same thing... I'm moving in tomorrow and now I don't know what to do. Should I just change it to a Oakville number and cross my finger that it'd work?

Well it WOULD be long distance for you to CALL a toronto number in HAMILTON (with an oakville number) because you're basically calling from hamilton (the location you are IN) to toronto which is long distance. But people calling you will actually be calling Oakville (which isn't long distance from toronto) so it's local for them and since oakville is within the local calling area for hamilton, you can RECIEVE calls from anywhere without having roaming charges (incoming long distance charges basically).
Fido may be stupid though. Who knows. Cheaper than Rogers though.. stick with them. I'd try for the oakville number and see what happens the first month. If you want to stay EXTRA safe, get a hamilton number. People calling you from toronto will see it as long distance and you shouldn't pick up your phone when in toronto but you won't get roaming charges in that case.

Lol what I do when I want to talk to someone in toronto (when I'm in hamilton) is I either miss call them (that's for my parents) or I send them a text saying CALL MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE or something equivalent but less hyper (usually it's more hyper).

Is this still going to work since rogers is changing the size of the local calling areas.

Probably not, but you'll have to wait and see.
