You can change it either in instore or online but it's more expensive to change it in store. You might want to wait on doing this since the local calling areas are shrinking so this might not work anymore.

:O noooooooooooooooooooo ooooooooooooooooooooo ooooooooo
That sucks. I hate rogers. Booooooo

Edit:
http://www.rogers.com/web/content/wi...ocal_ca lling
If you scroll down and view the hamilton LCA, calls from hamilton to an oakville number are now long distance. Wtf. Time to change my number to a hamilton one :(

However there's no map for oakville. I wonder if incoming calls for an oakville number would incur roaming charges in hamilton? Hm... I shall call, ask, complain and demand long distance minutes (or some sort of roaming compensation).

Oh also, if you mention this crazy LCA thing they've got going on and say that that is the only reason you have to change your number, they MAY give it to you for free. You never know... I'd ***** about it until they do.

From what I can tell, anyone in hamilton calling an oakville number will have the long distance message starting Nov. 15th so you have some time. So people calling YOU will be paying long distance, if you call other people with oakville numbers that will also start being long distance. I'm not sure about picking up calls in hamilton with an oakville number yet... I'll give them a call and let you know!

Which is why it's time to rejoice since WIND mobile is set to go live in October/November.

It's the new provider that's coming in. ( formally globalive)

http://www.windmobile.ca/

They don't have any plans as of yet but from what i've heard, it's gonna model the us system where the whole country is local calling.

In any case, you can change your number if picking up your phone turns out to be long distance.

Can't wait to see what kinda of plans they have! The local/long distance scheme seems ridiculous....Toronto /Oakville isn't exactly THAT far to be considered long distance. :| I used to live in the Philippines and wherever I went...it was a flat rate for calls regardless of where I was calling.

Ah yes but you won't know until your bill comes and then the stupid Rogers people will make a big thing about how you should have known because they put it hidden in your last monthly bill or something like that. So sad.
